Links can be selected in three ways in Maltego Graph (Desktop):

  1. In Link Selection mode
  2. With Select Links dropdown menu

Link Selection Mode

Maltego Graph (Desktop) can operate in two different modes – Link Selection mode, or Entity Selection mode.

The default mode is Entity Selection mode. To switch between modes, use shortcut keys Ctrl + M on Windows (Cmd + N on Mac) or use the mode selection icons in the Investigate tab:

To quickly switch between modes,  press and hold the Ctrl key on Windows and Option on Mac on your keyboard while dragging or selecting.

In Link Selection mode you will be selecting links even when dragging over multiple Entities. Dragging a box around links will select multiple links:

The selection in the image above will result in the selection below:

Link Selection mode is enabled in the image above, you will notice the selected links are highlighted yellow.

Links can also be selected by selecting nodes (in Entity Selection mode) and then switching to Link Selection mode.

Select Links Dropdown

Maltego Graph (Desktop) offers a way to select links in bulk: outgoing and incoming links, all outgoing links, or all incoming links.

To use the Select Links shortcut, you will need to have Entities selected on the graph.

Select Links has three options in the dropdown menu:

  1. Outgoing & Incoming: (Ctrl + L) Selects incoming and outgoing links for currently selected Entities.
  2. Outgoing:  (Ctrl + End) Selects outgoing links for currently selected Entities.
  3. Incoming: (Ctrl + Home) Selects incoming links for currently selected Entities.

Reverse Links

Reverse Links reverses the direction of a selected link (manually created links only). The button will only become selectable when a link is selected.
