Exporting to Maltego Graph (Desktop)

Modified on Tue, 28 Oct at 5:43 AM

Investigators can now transfer data directly from Maltego Evidence into Maltego Graph (Desktop). This new capability streamlines the investigative workflow by enabling the export of selected target profiles, including their direct connections and postings, into a structured .mtgx graph file.

Export Scope and Limitations

The export includes the target profiles and their followers, followings, friends, and postings.

However, please note the following current limitations:

  • Comments and reactions are not included in the export.
  • Supported platforms are limited to X/Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.

How to Export Data

To begin the export:

  1. Navigate to the Exports section in Maltego Evidence by clicking on the Export icon at the top.
  2. Select Graph Exchange Format (.mtgx).
  3. Select the target profiles you would like to export. Evidence will export the profile and all associated with it connections (followers, following, friends) and postings.
  4. Download the file to your system.
  5. Open the .mtgx file in Maltego Graph (Desktop) to continue your investigation.

When you open the file in Maltego Graph (Desktop), the graph will contain the target profile, followers, followings, friends, and postings depending on what Evidence was able to crawl initially.
