When opening the installer on Windows, I see a message saying "Microsoft Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting"

Modified on Tue, 7 Oct at 8:37 AM

What's going on?

Windows has a built-in scanner to check whether an app has been made by someone Microsoft knows and trusts. The Hunchly certificate was changed for 2.4.2, which caused Windows not to see it the same way as past Hunchly installers.

How do I fix it?

  1. Run the Hunchly installer
  2. When the warning message appears, click "More info"
  3. Make sure that the publisher is "Dark River Systems Inc."
    1. If it isn't, please contact us at support@hunch.ly immediately
  4. Click "Run anyway"

What was changed that caused this to happen?

Hunchly changed code signing certificate providers for the Windows installer.
