How do I exclude news accounts in a case?

Modified on Wed, 16 Oct, 2024 at 4:26 AM

Suppose that you are only interested in messages from the 'ordinary' citizen. Then messages from news accounts can cause a lot of noise in the case.

That is why there is a filter in Maltego Monitor that can hide messages from news accounts.

Displaying or hiding messages from news accounts

By default, news account messages are not displayed in the case. To change this click the 'More' option at the top left of the case

Contribute to improving the filter

Maltego Monitor has a set of accounts that are classified as news. Nevertheless, it is possible that you will encounter a Twitter or YouTube account that in your opinion belongs to the news. In that case, you can report this account as news.

  1. Move your mouse over the name of the account above the message.
  2. Click on the arrow that appears behind the name.
  3. Click on 'Report as news'.

After you have marked an account as news, the messages of this account are hidden when the filter is in use.
